Q: "How do I lower the arch in my Z-CoiL shoes?"

Q: "Z-CoiL shoes too much arch support — how to fix?"

A: How to Perform a Low Arch Adjustment at Home

If you have flat feet or low arches, you may find the arch support in your Z-CoiL footwear a bit too aggressive. The good news is: you can make a low arch adjustment at home to customize the fit and comfort of your shoes.

Follow this guide to safely adjust the built-in Z-Orthotic® to better match your foot shape.

What You'll Need

To perform this adjustment, you'll need a few household items and tools:

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Remove the Insole

Take out the felt-lined insole from your Z-CoiL shoe so you can access the Z-Orthotic arch support underneath.

2. Apply Heat

Using a hairdryer, heat the arch area of the plastic orthotic for about 1 to 2 minutes. Keep the dryer a few inches away and move it back and forth to evenly warm the surface. You’ll know it’s ready when the material becomes slightly more pliable.

3. Shape the Arch

Wearing heat-resistant gloves, gently press down on the arch area to lower it. For a more precise adjustment, use a wide-mouth clamp to hold the arch in a lowered position.

4. Let It Cool

Keep the clamp in place and allow the orthotic to fully cool (about 10–15 minutes) so it retains the new shape.

5. Reassemble the Shoe

Once the arch has cooled and set, replace the insole and try the shoe on. Walk around to test the comfort and arch support. You can repeat the process if a greater adjustment is needed.

Tips for Success

  • Always test small adjustments first before making larger changes.

  • If the arch is still too high, repeat the process gradually.
