Why are my Z-CoiLs squeaking?Updated a month ago
A squeaking noise from a new pair of Z-CoiLs is normal. Z-CoiL shoes have moving parts — like a car, they can make minor sounds during break-in. It doesn't affect performance, and it almost always goes away on its own.
What causes itThe squeak comes from the rubber coil cover rubbing against the spring as you walk. That friction decreases as the materials settle in with use.
What to do
- Keep wearing them. The squeaking typically stops within a day or two of regular wear.
- Add a little lubrication. Apply a small amount of olive oil or lotion around the coil to reduce friction.
- Check the screw. Make sure the coil is screwed on tight.
